A New Pair of Pens

I turned the Myrtal Wood pen yesterday, and the acrylic pen today. The Myrtal pen is a gift my boss is going to give his dad. The Acrylic pen was my first try at using this material for a pen. As it turned out (pun intended, but bad) the wood pen was the easier to turn of the two. The acrylic pen was a much harder material, and the shavings from the skew kept wrapping around the barrels. Also, though I doubt you can see it, the gold color from the pen is transparent enough to see through, and you can see the epoxy and the brass insert. Luckily, the gold and the brass are very similar in color so it is not obvious. I think I would rather turn a thicker body, or maybe color the brass tube to hide it.

Have a look.
